Wie schon das Titelbild verr?t, geht es in diesem Roman um Freundschaften, viel mehr noch, um den Aufbau eines ganzen Netzwerkes von Freundschaften, um sich in dieser Welt anzusichern und seine Position zu definieren. Das Buch spielt ?berwiegend in Deutschland. Dort in der kleinen Stadt Wittenberge an der Elbe wohnen Elvira und Dimmy, und sie sind die Adoptivkinder eines bekannten Industriellen, der hier Gesch?ftsf?hrer und Miteigent?mer einer gro?en Nahrungsmittelfabrik ist.. Es geht aber auch um mehr.
Tief im All gibt es intelligente Lebensformen, und ein Zufall der Geschichte will es, dass eines dieser Wesen den Weg zur Erde findet. Es beginnt sich einen neuen Lebensraum aufzubauen und findet die Hilfe von Menschen. Nun, eigentlich ist es genau umgekehrt, einige Menschen finden die Hilfe dieses au?ergew?hnlichen Gesch?pfes aus dem All, und sie werden von dem Volk der Cantara ausgew?hlt, ihre Interessen auf der Erde zu vertreten.
Genau darum geht es in diesem Band. Die Protagonisten sind 2 Jugendliche, am Anfang des Buchs 14 und 12 Jahre alt. Sie sind Mutanten, eine Verbindung aus Mensch und Cantara. Sie wissen es nur nicht. Trotzdem ist da diese Kraft des Clans der Auserw?hlten. Anfangs ist diese Kraft nicht sehr ausgebildet, aber sie lernen, und als sie mit der Familie von den USA nach Deutschland ?bersiedeln, beginnt die Bew?hrungsprobe. Neue Stadt, neue Schule, neue Cliquen, neue Sprache. Alles ist anders. Es ist nur gut, dass sie in ihren Eltern viel Unterst?tzung und Hilfe finden. Sie machen sich bald auf den Weg, um sich ein eigenes Netz aus Freunden zuzulegen, und sie besinnen sich auf die St?rken und die Kr?fte der Familie, die weit verstreut ist.
Die Cantara stellen Irina und Dimmy ihre Kraft nicht ohne die Verpflichtung auf einen ethischen Codex zur Verf?gung, und sie sorgen daf?r, dass die Kr?fte nur mit viel M?he und Schwei? antrainiert werden k?nnen. Irina und Dimmy sollen zu W?chtern des Lebens werden.
Der Band beschreibt die Jugendzeit der beiden Jugendlichen, bis zum Abitur (kurz nach dem Abitur), die vor allem davon gepr?gt ist, neue Erfahrungen zu sammeln und sich durchzusetzen. Dabei spielen auch die klimatischen Ver?nderungen auf der Welt eine bedeutende Rolle, die sich durch den Klimawandel ergeben. Sie ziehen technologische Ver?nderungen nach sich. Es gilt in dieser Welt verschiedene Werte zu bewahren, die das Zusammenleben erleichtern, wie Zuverl?ssigkeit, Verl?sslichkeit, Freundschaft, Zusammenhalt und W?rme.
